Good Governance

The Product Policy Institute is a venue for a much needed discussion in North America about governance and the appropriate roles of government and business in society. We believe that government has the duty to protect common assets and the public trust, and that government should assert leadership in setting and enforcing social and environmental performance standards to protect the public interest. However, business should have the freedom to design and manufacture products as long as they meet established performance standards. In short, solving sustainability issues is dependent on liberating business creativity through responsible, minimally prescriptive government leadership.
